Family Support

The Families Information Service Hub is known as FISH.

Its role is to offer free, impartial information for children and young people, parents and carers and professionals who have a role in supporting families.

FISH is a 'one-stop-shop' where you can get details of services in the East Riding for children and young people aged 0-20 years.

Children's Centres

East Riding Children’s Centres are there for the whole family; from the moment you know you are expecting a baby, and until your child is 9.

Children’s Centres offer a range of activities and services for children and their families, to give every child the best start in life.

They welcome everyone who cares for children, so our centres are open to parents, grandparents, foster carers and childminders.

They offer tailored support through family support work, which can be done one to one in the family home or during sessions at one of our Children’s Centres.

They can help with:

  • support during pregnancy
  • becoming a new parent and how to care for your newborn
  • safe sleep advice
  • breastfeeding support and advice
  • toilet training
  • child development including speech and language
  • managing children's behaviour
  • healthy eating and keeping active
  • emotional health and wellbeing of you and/or your child
  • family routines, including bedtime routines.

Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Coercive control (a pattern of intimidation, degradation, isolation and control with the use or threat of physical or sexual violence)
  • Psychological and/or emotional abuse
  • Physical or sexual abuse
  • Financial or economic abuse
  • Harassment and stalking
  • Online or digital abuse

Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

Mr Bell (Designated Safeguarding Lead), has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

Please pop into school if you would like to have a chat or ask for help or advice.
